Job description
Animal Nutritionist
Animal Nutritionist - Central Scotland - £35,000 - £45,000 + Company Car
The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an Animal Nutritionist to join an established and growing feed business in Central Scotland. This is a varied role combining office-based nutrition work with regular time out on farm. You will work closely with the existing sales team and customers, reviewing feed blends and making practical nutritional recommendations based on forage and silage analysis, herd performance and individual farm requirements.
You will be involved in:
- Reviewing and developing bespoke feed blends for customers
- Visiting farms alongside the sales team to assess herds and feeding systems
- Using silage and forage analysis to identify nutritional requirements
- Making recommendations and implementing changes to rations and feed blends
- Monitoring herd performance and identifying areas where nutrition can be improved
- Working closely with farmers to understand their individual requirements
- Supporting the sales team with nutritional advice and technical knowledge
- Building strong relationships with customers and becoming a trusted source of nutritional advice
The role will be a mixture of office based nutrition work and customer facing farm visits, so someone who enjoys both the technical and practical sides of animal nutrition would suit this position well
The Candidate:
- Experience within animal nutrition, feed formulation or a related agricultural role
- Strong understanding of ruminant nutrition
- Feed formulation and/or ration balancing experience
- Confident interpreting silage and forage analysis
- Comfortable visiting farms and working directly with farmers
- Communicate technical information in a straightforward and practical way
- Works well alongside a sales team
- Is commercially aware and understands the importance of customer relationships
- Holds a full UK driving licence
A strong practical understanding of farming would be highly beneficial, as the role is very much about taking nutritional advice and making it work on farm.
The Package:
- Salary £35,000 - £45,000 DOE
- Company car
- Office-based role with regular farm visits
- Opportunity to work with an established customer base across Central Scotland
- Opportunity to develop within a growing agricultural business
