Assistant Farm Manager
Assistant Farm Manager – Free Range Eggs - Kent - £37,000 per year + Company House

Hours: 42.75 hours per week

The Job:
A well established farming business in the South East is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to support the day-to-day running of a modern free-range egg production site.
This is a hands-on role working closely with the Farm Manager to ensure high standards of bird welfare, farm productivity, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will help oversee the management of approximately 180,000 free-range hens across a large farm site and support a small team to maintain excellent standards across the operation.

Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the daily management of a free-range laying farm
- Monitoring bird health, welfare, and overall flock performance
- Assisting with the management of approximately 180,000 hens across the farm
- Supporting egg production operations and overseeing the egg collection process
- Leading, training, and supporting farm staff to maintain high standards of care
- Ensuring biosecurity, hygiene, and welfare standards are followed at all times
- Carrying out routine checks on housing, feeding, and watering systems
- Assisting with house turnarounds and general farm maintenance
- Maintaining farm equipment, infrastructure, and supplies
- Keeping accurate records including egg production, bird health, and mortality rates
- Supporting audits and ensuring compliance with welfare, hygiene, and health & safety standards

As part of the accommodation package, the role will also include some evening checks and on-site security duties to help safeguard bird welfare and respond to emergencies if required.

The Candidate:
- Previous poultry or livestock farming experience
- Practical, hands-on approach to farm management
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to lead and support farm staff
- Strong understanding of animal welfare and biosecurity
- Comfortable working outdoors and responding to farm operational needs
- Experience working on free-range egg production farms
- Knowledge of industry welfare and assurance standards

The Package
- Salary around £37,000 per year
- Company house included with the role
- 42.75 hours per week

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
