Assistant Farm Manager 

The Lettuce Company Kent

A great opportunity has arisen for a key role in a small, friendly and busy farm management team in The Lettuce Company Kent, based 30 miles outside London on the Isle of Grain.

The Farm

1500 Acre Farm located in Kent - 30 miles from London

300 Acres of which is Vegetable crops supplying the UK’s major retailers.

Recent drive to improve our soil health and quality by investing in new machinery and techniques. Modern, up to date tractors and machinery with GPS.

The Role

The focus primarily will be to provide support for the Farm Manager in all aspects of farm operations Including growing, irrigation and management of machinery and labour to highest quality and Health and Safety Standards

Dependant on experience this role also offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of a key farm management decisions including both labour, crop and machinery management.

The Candidate

  • Experience with tractors and machinery -essential
  • Mechanical aptitude – an advantage
  • Previous supervisory or man management skills – an advantage
  • Previous irrigation experience- an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Flexible and reliable, open to change and possess a can do attitude.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Lean thinker, seeks continuous improvement
  • Proficient in IT - Microsoft Excel and Word.
