Butcher
Butcher - Liverpool - £27,500 – £30,000
The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Butcher to join a well established retail butchery business in the Liverpool area. This is a hands on role suited to someone who takes pride in traditional butchery, product quality and customer service. Working within a busy retail environment, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality meat products while providing customers with expert advice and an outstanding shopping experience.
The successful candidate will have experience in full carcass butchery, counter service and retail presentation, with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out all aspects of traditional butchery, including full carcass breakdown, boning, trimming, cutting and portioning
- Break down whole carcasses efficiently while maximising yield and maintaining presentation standards
- Prepare a range of retail-ready cuts and value-added meat products
- Maintain attractive, well-stocked retail displays and counters
- Deliver excellent customer service, providing product recommendations and cooking advice
- Serve customers confidently within a busy retail environment
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and stock rotation
- Monitor stock levels and support ordering and inventory management activities
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and company procedures
- Support colleagues and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the business

The Candidat
- Previous experience working as a Butcher within a retail, traditional or commercial butchery environment
- Proven experience in full carcass breakdown and traditional butchery techniques
- Strong customer facing and counter service experience
- Excellent knowledge of meat preparation, yield management, portion control and retail presentation
- Understanding of food hygiene, food safety and safe handling practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining high quality standards
- Experience producing value-added products and specialist cuts desirable
- Stock control, ordering and inventory management experience advantageous
- Friendly, professional and customer focused approach with strong communication skills
- Reliable, organised and passionate about quality food and customer service
The Package
- Salary of £27,500 - £30,000 DOE

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
