Dairy Herd Manager
Dairy Herd Manager – Cheshire – £45,000 + 5 bed house

The Job:
A progressive, grass-based dairy business in Cheshire is seeking an experienced and motivated Dairy Herd Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of a 250-cow herd operating a split block calving system (spring and autumn).
This role offers the opportunity to work within a larger dairy farming operation, benefiting from a supportive and forward-thinking environment with excellent opportunities for long-term development.

The Company:
- Oversee daily herd management and milking routines
- Manage calving, breeding and dry-off periods
- Monitor herd health, fertility and nutrition
- Manage grassland, grazing rotations and forage quality
- Work closely with vets, nutritionists and advisors
- Maintain accurate records and compliance
- Lead and support farm staff
- Ensure high standards of animal welfare and hygiene

The Candidate:
Proven experience in dairy herd management
- Strong stockmanship and attention to detail
- Good understanding of grass-based and block calving systems
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Good record-keeping and communication skills
- Proactive approach with a focus on improving performance

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
