Farm Manager
Farm Manager (turf and wild flower)- York - £50,000 - £60,000
The Job:
We are working on behalf of a leading horticultural production business to recruit a Farm Manager based in York. This is an opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded Farm Manager with a strong background in horticulture and wild flower production. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day to day farming operations, driving production performance, maintaining high crop quality standards and supporting the continued development of a specialist growing operation.
Working closely with senior management, you will lead farm operations across turf and wild flower production, ensuring efficient cultivation, sustainable growing practices and the successful delivery of production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day to day farm operations across multiple production areas
- Lead cultivation, establishment and maintenance programmes for turf and wild flower crops
- Develop and implement growing schedules to maximise crop quality and yield
- Manage farm staff, coordinate workloads and support team development
- Monitor crop performance, soil health, irrigation systems and environmental conditions
- Plan and oversee harvesting, field preparation and seasonal farming activities
- Ensure machinery, equipment and farm infrastructure are maintained effectively
- Manage budgets, operational costs and production targets
- Maintain compliance with health & safety, environmental and industry standards
- Work closely with senior management to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency

The Candidate:
- Previous experience as a Farm Manager, Growing Manager, Production Manager or similar leadership role
- Strong experience within wild flower horticulture, crop establishment and commercial growing operations
- Good understanding of land management, cultivation techniques and sustainable farming practices
- Experience managing teams and coordinating seasonal workloads effectively
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, crop performance monitoring and environmental management
- Strong organisational, planning and commercial decision making skills
- Agricultural, horticultural or land based qualification desirable
- Experience within turf production, amenity horticulture or specialist cropping advantageous
- Machinery operation, maintenance and farm infrastructure management experience beneficial
- Knowledge of environmental stewardship, biodiversity initiatives and sustainable land management desirable
- Full UK driving licence
The Package:
- Salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum DOE

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
