Job description
The Position:
This Farm Worker / Farm Supervisor job vacancy will be based on a small farm in Essex and will involve commuting to Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Hertfordshire and Wiltshire delivering hay and straw to farmers. This is a varied role which involves general farm work duties and helping with haulage operations. They are looking for someone from an agricultural background that is a good listener, excellent communicator and is willing to get their hands dirty!
The Company:
Suppliers of hay, straw, bedding and feed to the agricultural sector.
The Candidate:
- Can operate a telehandler.
- Can drive a tractor / forklift.
- Full driving licence (HGV licence beneficial).
- Harvesting experience.
- Knowledge of grass.
- Baling and wrapping skills.
- Good listener.
- Experience working on a farm.
The successful candidate would have experience with all grass harvest processes and extensive experience in either mowing or big bale baling. They must also have extensive experience using telehandler loaders to be incorporated into a range of operations revolving around bale handling, stacking and loading lorries. Experience with self propelled sprayers would give the candidate the opportunity to also take on this role for a 300 acre arable farm and additional grassland. There are development opportunities within the business extending into a metal fabrication workshop and also onto HGV vehicles with mounted forklifts.
The Package:
- Dependent upon the level of experience circa £30K - £35K basic.
- Training provided – opportunity to gain a HGV licence.
- Accommodation available on the farm.
