Veterinary Surgeon
Veterinary Surgeon - Oxfordshire - £80,000 + Benefits
The Job:
A Veterinary Surgeon role within a well established small animal GP practice, working across a varied and clinically rewarding caseload.
Key responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of small animal medical and surgical cases
- Perform routine and elective surgical procedures
- Administer anaesthesia and monitor patients during treatment
- Conduct clinical examinations and interpret diagnostic results (bloods, imaging, lab work)
- Manage emergency and critical care cases when required
- Prescribe and manage appropriate treatment plans
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with regulatory standards
- Provide preventative healthcare advice including vaccinations and parasite control
- Communicate clearly and confidently with clients regarding treatment options
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive clinical team

A long established, locally owned small animal practice with a strong reputation in the Oxford area. The practice has been operating for over a decade and is recognised for delivering high quality first opinion veterinary care. The team is made up of experienced vets, nurses, and support staff, supported by strong leadership and a collaborative working environment. The practice is well equipped and offers a broad and varied GP caseload, with a strong focus on clinical development, wellbeing and team culture.
The Candidate:
- Experienced in general small animal practice
- Confident in routine surgery and medical case management
- Strong diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills
- Experience with internal medicine, imaging and ultrasound desirable
- Ability to manage emergency and critical care cases
- Strong understanding of animal welfare and clinical best practice
- Excellent communication skills with a client focused approach
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Organised, resilient, and able to work under pressure
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
The Package
- Salary up to £80,000 DOE
- No out of hours requirement

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
