Job description

THE JOB:

Our client is a major provider of agricultural contracting and farm services throughout Southern England. We are working exclusively to find them a Commercial Director to lead and manage their agricultural contracting and farm services division, including full profit & loss responsibility and management of employees (directly or indirectly). You will also be responsible for driving sales, ensuring profitability, compliance, as well as drawing up annual plans for the division and will be reporting into the UK Managing Director. This is a fantastic and highly varied role with lots of responsibility. They have a strong list of high-profile customers and customer service and quality work is at the heart of what they do.

THE COMPANY:

THE CANDIDATE:

  • Understanding farming and earthwork operations is essential, as is the challenges, mindset and buying habits of a well-informed customer base of farming professionals.        

  • Knowledge of relevant agricultural health and safety legislation.

  • Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.

  • Confident, effective people management skills. Focused on achieving business goals and optimising team abilities and contributions (motivating and developing).

  • Exceptional communication at all levels.

  • Strong IT skills (MS Office, Industry specific software would be beneficial).

  • Strong financial skills with formulation of/adherence to budget.

  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure, conflict and critical decision-making.

  • Strong commercial acumen and business development/sales driven. Ability to understand customer needs.

  • Excellent market knowledge, using analytical tools and data to plan and forecast, be up to speed with market trends and the competitive landscape.

  • Self-motivated. Possesses can do attitude. Advocate of change.

  • Driven for business development and improvement.

  • Must possess a high degree of planning and organisational skills.

THE PACKAGE:

£70k- £80k basic salary, plus excellent bonus, Company Car/Car allowance and excellent full benefits package.
