Arable Farm Manager Job Specification
Position: Arable Farm Manager
Location: Co. Donegal, Republic or Ireland
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive (details provided during the interview process)
Accommodation: 3-bedroom house included
Responsibilities:
  1. Agronomy Expertise:
    • Utilize advanced knowledge in agronomy to optimize crop yields and quality.
    • Implement sustainable farming practices and stay abreast of industry advancements.
  2. GPS and Precision Farming:
    • Proficient in the use of GPS technology for precision farming applications.
    • Implement precision farming techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
  3. Crops Management:
    • Oversee the planning, planting, and harvesting of arable crops.
    • Monitor crop health, implement pest control strategies, and ensure high-quality yields.
  4. Soil and Nutrient Management:
    • Conduct soil analysis to determine nutrient requirements.
    • Develop and implement effective soil and nutrient management plans.
  5. People Management:
    • Lead and supervise farm staff, providing guidance and support.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  6. Compliance and Certifications:
    • Hold and maintain relevant certifications, including PA1, PA2, and PA4.
    • Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
  7. Budget and Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage budgets for arable operations.
    • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure financial sustainability.
  8. Equipment and Machinery:
    • Oversee the maintenance and efficient use of farm equipment and machinery.
    • Implement technology-driven solutions to enhance productivity.
  9. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of crop yields, expenses, and other relevant data.
    • Generate reports for management on farm performance and key metrics.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Farm Manager, preferably in arable farming.
  • Background in agronomy with a strong understanding of crops, soil, and nutrients.
  • Proficiency in GPS technology and precision farming techniques.
  • Possession of PA1, PA2, and PA4 certifications.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Financial acumen for budgeting and cost management.
  • Ability to adapt to changing agricultural practices and technologies.
