Position Overview:
Seeking an Assistant Growing Manager to oversee the production and harvesting of field-grown crops while ensuring adherence to health and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for agricultural management.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate growing records, including groundwork, planting, irrigation, fertilization, and crop protection.
- Provide bi-weekly crop availability forecasts to the Farm Manager, highlighting potential quality or availability issues.
- Develop induction training programs for new employees and ensure staff compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Ensure proper maintenance, storage, and use of all production/harvesting equipment and personal protective gear.
- Conduct post-training assessments of staff competency and manage accident investigations and reporting.
- Fulfil additional tasks as agreed upon with the Farm Manager and act in place of the Farm Manager when necessary.
- Previous experience in agricultural management or related field.
- Full UK Driving License.
- Must have PA 1/2.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in IT applications relevant to agricultural management.
