Job description

Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Herd Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our cattle herd. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, well-being, and productivity of our herd.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of herd management, including feeding, breeding, health monitoring, and calving.
  • Implement and manage herd health protocols to ensure the well-being of the animals.
  • Lead a team of farmworkers in daily tasks, providing guidance and support.
  • Maintain accurate records related to the herd, including breeding and health information.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and nutritionists to optimize herd performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
 
The candidate:
  • Proven experience in herd management, preferably in a cattle farming environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cattle nutrition, breeding, and health practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently when necessary.
  • Familiarity with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in agriculture.
  • Previous experience in a managerial role on a cattle farm.
