Job description

Our client is a leading provider of independent, investigative research, and product development in various agricultural fields, including crop production, crop protection, crop nutrition, food quality, environmental preservation, product stewardship, genetics, and seeds. We are committed to advancing agricultural practices and contributing to the sustainable growth of the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Field Biologist specializing in Field Trials, you will play a pivotal role in the execution and timely delivery of our UK field trials program. Your responsibilities will include planning, executing, and reporting individual trials independently, ensuring compliance with local GEP and GLP guidelines, as well as company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will be directly responsible for managing 30-50 field trials annually, focusing on GEP bio efficacy trials while providing support for GLP studies. Moreover, you will develop specialized knowledge in a specific subject/technical area and offer guidance and training to other staff members in this domain.
Primary Duties:
  • Develop a detailed action plan for your assigned trials program and execute them successfully to meet customer requirements and reporting deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the UK Field Testing Manager (FTM) or Senior Field Biologist to define and understand the technical requirements of the trials allocated to you.
  • Liaise with Site Managers, farmers, and suppliers to ensure timely provision of land, crops, chemicals, seeds, and other resources necessary for the success of the trials.
  • Capture, summarize, and interpret trial data accurately and consistently for reporting to customers, Project Managers (PMs), and Global Account Managers (GAMs).
  • Keep the administration team informed with regularly updated trial schedules through INSITE.
  • Stay updated with the latest agricultural practices and products, and provide training and advice to colleagues in your area of expertise.
  • Ensure all personal work adheres to the required legal and company safety standards and complies with official GLP and GEP guidelines.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate assistants and temporary staff to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient execution of their roles.
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, working alongside the FTM to meet customer expectations and secure future sales.
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Soft Skills:
  • Ideally, possess a BSc or equivalent qualification in Agriculture or Biological/Life Science.
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing individual trials programs following GEP or GLP guidelines.
  • NPTC PA1 and PA6 qualifications (Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides) are required. PA2 and PA11 are desirable but not essential (training and tests will be provided).
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Proficient PC skills.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Proactive with a "can-do" attitude.
Physical Demands:
This role will involve some lone working, practical physical/manual tasks (e.g., spraying, hand harvests, etc.), and occasionally long hours during busy field periods and harvest.
You will work outdoors in the field under various weather conditions (appropriate PPE and clothing will be provided, and extremes of temperature will be avoided).
