Forage Technical Specialist
Forage Technical Specialist - Wales (home-based with regional travel) - £50,000

The Job:
A leading agricultural business is seeking a Forage Technical Specialist to support its feed and ruminant teams across Wales. This opportunity is ideal for someone with strong knowledge of forage production, crop management and the key inputs used on livestock farms — including seed, fertiliser, forage additives and crop protection products.
Working in partnership with sales and technical colleagues, you will help farmers improve forage quality, plan cropping strategies and select the most suitable products for their system. The role combines home working with regular farm visits, offering variety and direct engagement with customers.

Key responsibilities:
- Support regional feed and technical teams in meeting forage-related sales targets through expert advice
- Provide guidance on forage and crop planning to ensure customers make informed input decisions
- Arrange soil, forage and slurry analysis to strengthen recommendations
- Build strong farmer relationships by assessing crops and forages and offering practical insights
- Deliver technical training and updates to colleagues within the region
- Work closely with Product Managers, Feed Specialists and Ruminant Specialists to maximise opportunities
- Assist with regional marketing campaigns and represent the forage business at events, meetings and shows
- Maintain up-to-date understanding of products such as seed, fertiliser and forage additives
- Keep professional qualifications (e.g., BASIS, FACTS) current through relevant CPD
- Use CRM systems to manage customer interactions and identify new opportunities.

The Candidate:
- Solid technical knowledge of forage production and cropping on livestock farms
- Understanding of key inputs including seeds, fertilisers and forage additives
- Effective communicator with the ability to develop trusted farmer relationships
- Self motivated and able to work both independently and within a wider team
- Competent IT user with strong organisation skills
- BASIS/FACTS qualified or willing to work towards these
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Wales.

The Package:
- Salary up to £50,000
- Home based flexibility
- Training and ongoing professional development
- Opportunity to join a respected agricultural team
