Sustainability Manager
Interim Sustainability Manager -Wiltshire – 3 days per week on-site, remainder flexible/hybrid- Day Rate: £450–£500 per day -Contract: Interim / 3+ Months
The Company:
Our client is a market leading organisation within the agricultural and food production sector, committed to driving measurable progress in sustainability, environmental stewardship and responsible resource management. As they continue to expand their sustainability strategy and embed carbon reduction and ESG initiatives across the business, they are now seeking an experienced Interim Sustainability Manager with poultry or egg sector experience to provide leadership, guidance, and hands-on project delivery during a key period of development and transition.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sustainability professional with poultry or egg production expertise to play a pivotal role in delivering and managing key environmental and sustainability objectives. Working closely with the board and operational teams, you will ensure that sustainability targets are achieved, compliance standards are met, and meaningful progress is communicated across all business functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of the organisation’s sustainability and environmental strategy across operations and supply chains, specifically focusing on poultry and egg production systems
- Manage and monitor progress against sustainability KPIs, including carbon reduction, waste management, and energy efficiency
- Oversee completion of carbon footprinting, life cycle assessments (LCA), and ESG reporting for poultry and egg operations
- Support teams in achieving environmental certifications such as ISO 14001, LEAF, Red Tractor Environmental, RSPCA Assured, and other relevant schemes
- Develop internal sustainability reporting tools and engage with external auditors and regulators
- Drive employee engagement and training initiatives to embed sustainability culture across all departments
- Identify and deliver opportunities for carbon sequestration, regenerative farming integration, and resource optimisation within poultry operations
- Liaise with external stakeholders, suppliers, and sustainability partners to ensure collaborative progress toward Net Zero objectives
The Candidate:
- Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in sustainability or environmental management within poultry, egg production, or broader food production/agriculture.
- Strong knowledge of carbon accounting, ESG frameworks, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Confident communicator able to lead change across diverse teams and functions.
- Available for an interim contract and able to work 3 days per week on-site in Wiltshire
