Applied Research Agronomist
Applied Research Agronomist - Portugal - Competitive Salary

The Job:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Applied Research Agronomist to join a forward thinking agricultural business, supporting the development and optimisation of crop production systems across Spain and Portugal.
This is a hands on, field based role focused on delivering high quality agronomic research and translating findings into practical solutions for commercial growers. The successful candidate will work across multiple sites, contributing to improvements in crop performance, yield, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, implementing, and managing field trials across multiple locations
- Evaluating crop varieties, inputs, and agronomic practices to optimise yield and quality
- Collecting, analysing and interpreting trial data to provide clear insights
- Working closely with growers to ensure trials are delivered effectively in commercial settings
- Translating research findings into practical recommendations for production teams
- Supporting innovation in areas such as irrigation, nutrition, crop protection and sustainability
- Maintaining accurate records and producing detailed technical reports
- Collaborating with internal teams across research, breeding, and commercial functions

The Candidate:
- Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science or a related field
- Proven experience in field based agronomy or agricultural research
- Strong understanding of crop production systems
- Experience designing and managing field trials
- Ability to analyse data and translate findings into practical recommendations
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel across Spain and Portugal
- Fluent in English

Desirable:
- Master’s or PhD in a relevant field
- Experience with soft fruit or berry production
- Knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, R or similar)
- Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills
