The Job:
A well established family-run dairy business in South Ayrshire is looking for a capable and trustworthy Dairy Herdsperson to take responsibility for the day to day management of a 200 cow Ayr calving flying herd, part of a wider 500-cow operation across two neighbouring units.
This is a hands on role suited to someone confident around cows and comfortable taking responsibility for animal health, herd performance and daily routines.
The business is supported by a dairy manager and a milker, with the farming family remaining closely involved and regularly present on farm. They are looking for someone dependable who can confidently maintain high standards of stockmanship and herd health.

Key Responsibilities:
- Milking
- Feeding and general herd management
- Grassland management
- Calf rearing
- Early detection and treatment of illness
- Maintaining excellent animal welfare standards

The Company:
The farm is located close to Ayr and Prestwick, around 30 miles from Glasgow, and just a few miles from Glasgow Prestwick Airport, offering good transport links while still enjoying a rural setting.

The Candidate:
- Have solid experience managing or working closely with a dairy herd
- Be honest, reliable and take pride in good stockmanship
- Be able to work well within a team while also using their own initiative
- Have strong attention to detail around animal health and performance
- AI
- Foot trimming
- Tractor work (silage and slurry operations are carried out in-house using modern machinery)
