Job description

Job Role:
As a Field Agronomist specialising in field trials, your primary responsibility will be to implement and oversee trials following Good Experimentation Practice (GEP) and/or Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in accordance with protocols, study plans, procedures, and official guidelines. You will play a crucial role in determining trial site locations based on protocol requirements, crop conditions, soil characteristics, and disease conditions. Additionally, you will apply treatments as per defined rates and frequencies, conduct samplings in line with instructions, and make assessments and observations during the trials.
Responsibilities:
  • Site Location: Determine trial site locations based on protocol specifications, crop conditions, soil characteristics, and disease considerations.
  • Treatment: Apply treatments following the prescribed rates, frequencies, and application methods defined in the protocol. Adhere to necessary hygiene precautions to minimize risks.
  • Samplings: Conduct samplings as instructed in the protocol, adhering to specified time limits, intervals, crop stages, and quantities.
  • Assessments: Perform assessments and observations on the trials according to the prescribed frequency outlined in the protocol. Record and present statistical data in the manner specified in the study plan. Share the data with the technical manager.
  • Crops or Destruction of Crops: Assist during the harvest period and handle harvested vegetables according to the protocol, either storing them or facilitating their destruction.
  • Sowings and Harvests: Operate farming equipment and carry out harvests according to specific conditions.
  • Client Interaction: Participate in trial visits with clients, providing necessary insights and information.
  • Data Management: Record raw data promptly and accurately. Ensure the quality and integrity of the data. Complete trial documentation in the Electronic Management of Documents (GED) within prescribed deadlines. Inform the Technical Manager promptly of any deviations or events related to the trials. Prepare a pre-report at the conclusion of each trial.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance of the Station: Ensure the smooth operation of the station to facilitate trial activities and comply with safety regulations. Safely store phytosanitary products to prevent dissemination and enable proper identification. Contribute to the overall functioning of the company or station as requested by your hierarchy or on your own initiative.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain experimentation equipment to mitigate risks and ensure the proper functioning of trials. Adhere to maintenance procedures.
Qualifications/Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or related field.
  • Experience in conducting field trials following GEP or GLP guidelines.
  • Proficiency in farm equipment operation and crop management practices.
  • Good record-keeping and data management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive and safety-conscious approach to work.
