Packhouse Supervisor
Packhouse Supervisor – Herefordshire - £13.75ph + Accommodation + Overtime
Hours: 40 hours guaranteed – variable rota (up to 48 hours per week averaged over a 17-week period)
Overtime: Paid after 48 hours at 1.25x basic rate
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
The Company:
A large, well established fresh produce business operating a high volume packing facility in Herefordshire is seeking a Packhouse Supervisor to join its team.
The company handles significant volumes of UK and imported soft fruit throughout the year, operating multiple modern packing lines and supplying major retail customers. The business is known for its fast-paced environment, high standards, and commitment to product quality and freshness.
The Job:
This is a hands on supervisory position responsible for overseeing packing line operations and maintaining high standards of productivity, hygiene, quality, and Health & Safety. You will supervise teams across designated areas of the packhouse, ensuring output meets internal and customer specifications while supporting efficient and cost effective operations.
The role requires strong leadership skills, clear communication, and the ability to perform effectively in a busy production environment, particularly during peak periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and maintain high performance standards across packing operations
- Ensure productivity, cleanliness, hygiene, and quality targets are achieved
- Maintain Health & Safety compliance in line with site procedures
- Keep assigned production areas clean and organised throughout shifts
- Accurately input and manage production data using internal systems
- Identify and report discrepancies where required
- Manage, motivate, and communicate effectively with team members
- Support training and development within the team
- Drive efficiency and minimise waste
The Candidate:
- Experience working in a busy factory or production environment
- Fresh produce or food manufacturing experience advantageous
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience
- Food safety qualifications desirable
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport preferred
- Ideally locally based or willing to relocate due to demanding and unpredictable working schedule (on-site accommodation may be available, e.g. pod or room within shared house)
Working Pattern:
- Variable start and finish times based on weekly rota
- Includes weekend working
- Increased hours during peak production periods
