Driver and Fleet Manager - Agriculture – York – up to £65,000 basic!
Are you ready to drive excellence?
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead our Transport Department as a Driver and Fleet Manager. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing our fleet of vehicles and drivers, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements, and fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively manage the fleet of vehicles and drivers, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and company requirements.
  • Foster collaboration within the operations teams to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a safety-first culture, championing best practices.
  • Implement, manage, and audit an effective transport management system.
  • Collaborate with wider departments to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage the ongoing performance of direct reports.
  • Ensure efficient daily, weekly, and monthly driver and vehicle resource planning.
  • Resolve day-to-day issues and unplanned downtime, ensuring effective communication.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legal, regulatory, and customer requirements.
The Candidate:
  • Good knowledge of transport hours and regulations.
  • Transport Manager CPC qualification (National or International).
  • Understanding of transport industry compliance, including Operator Licence requirements.
  • Experience coaching, leading, and building high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems, advanced MS Office skills, and vehicle tracking software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Prioritization experience with Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Ability to develop and lead implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Class 1 LGV licence.
The Package:
Salary: up to £65,000 basic
Contract: Permanent
Location: York
Working hours: Mon to Friday
