Pig Unit Manager
Pig Unit Manager - Dorset - £40,000 + Accommodation 

The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pig Unit Manager to take responsibility for a high-performing indoor pig unit within a well-run farming business.
The unit operates with approximately 1,100 sows, rearing progeny up to 7kg, utilising fully indoor systems with automatic wet feeding and ventilated housing. This role is suited to a hands-on individual who can maintain and build upon strong existing performance while leading and motivating a small team.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the day to day running of the pig unit
- Maintaining high production performance and welfare standards
- Overseeing feeding, housing and environmental systems
- Leading, motivating, and managing a team of four staff
- Monitoring herd health and working proactively to resolve issues
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and biosecurity standards
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting continuous improvement

The Company:
A family run farming business based in Dorset, operating a performance-driven pig enterprise with a strong focus on efficiency, standards and long term sustainability.

The Candidate
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within pig production or livestock management
- Proven track record of maintaining high performance standards
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing staff
- Motivated with a drive for continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and teamworking ability
- High attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Good IT skills (MS Word and Excel advantageous)
- Strong time management and organisational skills

The Package
- Salary from £40,000 DOE
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays
- Workplace pension
- 3 bedroom family housing provided
- Working pattern: 12 days on, 2 days off with every second weekend

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
