Product Development Scientist – Lytham - up to 34k
 
Overview:
Our client are a leading animal health and nutrition company dedicated to improving the well-being of animals through innovative products and solutions. With a strong commitment to research and development, they strive to provide high-quality products that meet the diverse needs of our customers.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for product development, collaborating with the Head of R&D to develop new and existing products. This includes troubleshooting any issues arising from existing products.
  • Conduct laboratory and production-sized trials of new formulations, ensuring close communication with the Head of R&D regarding progress and addressing any problems.
  • Source and prepare technical documentation such as raw material specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), recipes, and finished product specifications, adhering to current procedures and systems for approval by the Head of R&D or deputy.
  • Liaise with other departments to implement the requirements of technical specifications and validation requirements of new products.
  • Conduct field research to remain up-to-date with products available on the market and new product launches. Attend trade shows and provide feedback to help drive product innovation.
 
The Candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field such as Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or related discipline. Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in product development or a related role within the food, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries.
  • Strong knowledge of formulation science, including experience with laboratory and production-scale trials.
  • Experience in sourcing and preparing technical documentation such as raw material specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and finished product specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
