Farm & Field Trials Operator
Farm & Field Trials Operator - Hertfordshire (with travel across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Suffolk) - £26,573 + Overtime + Accommodation
The Job:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Farm & Field Trials Operator to join a leading agricultural research organisation based in Hertfordshire.
This role will support both commercial farming operations and agricultural research field trials across several farm sites. The successful candidate will work closely with farm and research teams to help deliver high-quality crop trials and contribute to innovative agricultural practices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating agricultural machinery to support arable crop production and field trials
- Assisting with the establishment, management, and harvesting of research plots
- Supporting crop monitoring, field data collection, and trial preparation
- Carrying out routine maintenance of machinery and equipment
- Assisting with general farm work and seasonal agricultural operations
- Working collaboratively with research and farm teams to ensure trials are completed accurately and efficiently
This role will involve travel between farm sites and occasional overtime during busy periods.

The Candidate:
- Experience operating agricultural machinery within an arable farming environment
- Practical understanding of crop production and field operations
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow trial protocols
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience supporting agricultural field trials or research plots
- Relevant agricultural qualifications or crop production experience
The Package
- Salary up to £26,573 DOE
- Full time role (37 hours per week)
- Fixed term contract until 31 October 2028 with potential extension
- Overtime payable

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
